About Us
Hello, my name is Claire Shefford.I am mum of 2 girls, a primary teacher and a qualified kindersigns instructor. This has given me the opportunity to share my passion for baby signing with others.
Baby signing is the use of signs with pre-verbal children in order to allow children to communicate with others. It has many benefits ranging from increasing IQ to helping greater bonds to form between adults and children.
I was introduced to baby signing in the UK and found it an invaluable tool with my daughter Hannah.Baby signing was used by Hannah's day-care centre in the UK, by our family and friends as well. Everyone enjoyed using it and saw the benefits. Our five month old, Elizabeth, has just used her first sign, milk.
I wanted the opportunity to show people how to use signing with their children and the kindersigning training I recieved has allowed this to happen.
Currently I offer classes in local community centres as well as in people’s homes. I also attend mothers groups to carry out seminars and workshops.
Sessions cost $40 per person or $70 per couple BUT home based classes are FREE to the host(paypal payments are in AU$ not US). As part of the workshops you receive details about Baby Signing and advice to allow you to enjoy using signs with your child. Also you get a pack including a dictionary of over 60 signs, a journal to record your child's achievements and information about Baby Signing. A minimum of 5 people is needed and discounts are given for larger groups. Please note cancellation without rescheduling incurs a charge.
